Florida Psychological Association Graduate Students (FPAGS) 

Florida Psychological Association Graduate Students (FPAGS) is the student arm of FPA and it has a voting seat on the FPA Board of Directors. Membership in FPAGS is offered to doctoral level students in good standing of APA-accredited programs whose students are eligible to sit for the Florida licensure exam. FPA is committed to supporting our student members through volunteer opportunities, mentoring, and leadership development.

FPAGS Advisor: Julie Williams, PsyD


Kira Lumpkins- FPAGS Chair

Kira is a second-year Clinical Psychology doctoral student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University in Tampa. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) and currently serves as Chair-Elect of the Social Justice Group at NLU, where she is passionate about advocacy, peer mentorship, and promoting equity in mental health spaces. Her clinical work has centered on supporting children, individuals impacted by trauma and grief, military veterans and their families, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. As the spouse of a military veteran and a mom of four, she brings both personal insight and professional expertise to her work with individuals navigating complex life experiences. She is deeply committed to creating safe, affirming spaces for clients and colleagues alike. As FPAGS Chair, Kira looks forward to fostering a strong, supportive environment for graduate students—one grounded in connection, mentorship, and shared growth. Kira plans to continue her clinical work in trauma and grief while expanding her specialization in psychological assessment and testing with both children and adults.

 

 

 

Joy Bonelli - FPAGS Past Chair 

Joy is a third-year graduate student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology and also has a B.S. in Psychology and an M.A. in Forensic Psychology. Prior to starting a graduate program, Joy served in the United States Navy as a law enforcement officer and also volunteered as a victim advocate for military survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. She looks forward to working with forensic, military, and first responder populations upon graduating to champion their diverse needs and provide connections to vital community resources. Currently, Joy serves as the Mentor Coordinator of FSPP’s Student Psychological Association (SPA) welcoming new students and providing invaluable support as they start their graduate school journey. Joy presented at the International Violence and Trauma Conference as well as FSPP’s Diversity Summit in 2023 on sexual revictimization among diverse populations and providing comprehensive, trauma informed treatment.

Jennifer (Jenni) Long- FPAGS Secretary 

Jenni is a fourth-year doctoral student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University. Her clinical and academic work centers on trauma-informed psychotherapy, with a focus on intergenerational trauma, complex PTSD, and personality dynamics. She is especially committed to serving underserved and marginalized populations, including children and families in the foster care system, individuals from low socioeconomic backgrounds, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Jenni has completed training in psychodiagnostic and therapeutic practica, integrating interpersonal and cognitive-behavioral approaches to help clients process trauma, build resilience, and strengthen relationships. She is currently engaged in her advanced practicum year, co-facilitating group therapies, preparing internship applications, and developing her dissertation research. 

 

 

Paxon Gray and La’La Hardy - FPAGS Diversity Representatives

Paxton is a graduate student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology at National Louis University. He has gained valuable experience working with high-risk youth as a mentor on the Pasco County Community Action Team and as a direct care worker at a local youth shelter, supporting children from diverse backgrounds. Paxton also has a year of experience volunteering as a crisis counselor with Crisis Textline. In addition, he is actively involved in local advocacy and political organizing efforts focused on defending civil liberties within his community. As a queer transgender man, Paxton understands the importance of creating inclusive and welcoming environments, especially in academic settings. He is committed to working collaboratively to ensure that voices from all communities are heard, while advocating for meaningful changes that enhance the experiences of psychology students from all backgrounds. Passionate about uplifting marginalized voices and championing justice, Paxton is dedicated to fostering a more equitable and supportive environment for all.

La'La is a second-year graduate student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology, where she currently serves as the Chair of the Black Student Interest Group in the Student Psychological Association. She also holds a dual Bachelor's degree in Psychology and Communication and a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. La'La has experience working with a diverse range of populations to include children of abuse/neglect, unhoused individuals, adults with substance use disorders, and survivors of interpersonal violence. She is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor and is passionate about providing culturally-representative care to minoritized groups. La’La honors her spirit by staying connected to her faith, investing her time with her family and friends, and serving the community. She looks forward to serving as the Diversity Co- Chair for FPAGS to make an impact on the field of psychology and help it continually move forward. 

 

 

 

 

 

Sarina Sptaru - FPAGS LAPPB Representative

Sarina is a second-year doctoral student at the Florida School of Professional Psychology. She earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and political science from the University of Florida, and she is passionate about integrating politics and advocacy into her work. Her research background involves bias in politics and social issues. She also conducted research on personal and systemic barriers to health-related behavior change. Sarina is interested in health psychology, particularly helping individuals manage chronic medical conditions and improve their health through lifestyle changes. She also hopes to specialize in working with eating disorders.
